Setting up your downloaded, unpacked file |
1. In Windows, click on "FILE", "RUN", and browse to
the directory which contains your unzipped files (perhaps c:\temp or
c:\download).
2. Look to see if the directory contains a file named
setup.exe or install.exe as one of the entries. If so, double click on
the setup.exe or install.exe program to install your software. Follow
instructions specific to the given setup program. When you've complete
this, you're completely done!
3. If you find no setup or install program in the
directory containing the downloaded, unzipped file(s), use File Manager
to create a subdirectory specific to the kind of program, etc. that you
have downloaded; bring up the "MAIN" window, click on "FILE MANAGER"
(in Win 3.x or the equivalent in Windows 95), then on "FILE" and "CREATE
DIRECTORY...". Make sure you create it in the specific area of your
hard disk that you believe is appropriate, with the appropriate name.
Also using "FILE MANAGER", highlight all the files in your download
directory and drag them to their new/final subdirectory. Finally, close
"FILE MANAGER", and in the "PROGRAM MANAGER", click on "FILE", "NEW..."
and give the window a name, and browse to the appropriate file in your
new subdirectory. Highlight the appropriate file, which is usually a
*.exe, *.com, or *.bat file. Click on [OK], and you are completely
finished!!!
You are completely done. Go "Back" to get to other sections.
