What if your file is a *.zip or *.hqx / *.sit? |
1. Many Windows or Dos files are downloaded as *.zip
compressed archives; many Mac files are downloaded as *.hqx or *.sit compressed
archives. This means that the program, plug-in, sound, video, etc. is
"zipped" up to make it compact and easy to move around.
2. To use the file(s) within the archive, it must be
"unzipped" (uncompressed, unpacked, etc.).
3. Whatever sort of compressed archive file you have,
find it in your file system and drag-'n-drop it into Stuffit Expander
(you may also "Open..." it within Stuffit if you like).
You can get Stuffit as described in the example in Lesson A.
Stuffit will detect the archive type and unzip it for you. Of course,
there are lots of other unzipping itilities out there, such as PKZIP
and WinZip; all the utilities are excellent but Stuffit is
freeware while the others are shareware...
Now, your archive is unzipped. Go "Back" to get to the
next section, or click on
Section C to continue.
